Elisabetta Cacace, MD PhD

Elisabetta is a systems microbiologist interested in how the environment, hosts and drugs shape bacterial functions and evolution. She trained in medicine at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and received her PhD from EMBL Heidelberg. After postdoctoral work at the University Hospital in Frankfurt and the ETH Zurich, she will start her group in June 2026 supported by an SNSF Ambizione grant and hosted in the laboratory of Prof. Alexandre Persat at EPFL.
